Our scholars did an amazing job of reciting Whole Duty of Children by Robert Louis Stevenson. I told the class that each child could choose to recite the poem alone or with a friend in front of the class. I was absolutely amazed by how many scholars chose to recite the poem alone! Everyone, either alone or with a friend, stood in scholarly position, spoke with a loud, clear voice, and recited our poem beautifully! There was so much excitement and sense of accomplishment from each and every scholar! I was very proud and I thank you for working with your child on poem recitation. Our new poem is Rain also by Robert Louis Stevenson and we will recite it at the end of September.
Rain by Robert Louis Stevenson The rain is raining all around, It falls on field and tree, It rains on the umbrellas here, And on the ships at sea. This week I began giving a sticker at the top of your child's daily Spalding writing paper. Each scholar was only given a sticker if there were no extra doodling, drawing, or unrelated pencil marks on his/her paper. It's important for each scholar to understand our writing paper is only used for writing our sounds and words and not for drawing. Our class pictures are going to look amazing! Everyone looked fantastic in their uniforms and did a wonderful job posing for their first school picture! It was a very exciting event for our scholars. Homework will be reviewed daily and a sticker will be placed by the parent signature line if homework is turned in and completed for the day. Homework is graded and it is important for your child to complete his/her homework for review and reinforcement of content taught in our classroom. Homework will be returned in your child's folder on Friday and it may be taken out at home and new homework will be given on Monday. Reminders:
