Our Spalding Clinic will be Wednesday, September 21st from 6:00 - 7:00pm. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about phonograms, Spalding grip, techniques, and the importance of saying and writing our phonograms accurately and precisely. Each week your child will have phonogram homework. As a parent, you will be dictating the phonogram sound and your child will write the phonogram using a Spalding grip. It is important that you are modeling the correct pronunciation of each phonogram. Another great resource to hear the correct pronunciation of our phonograms can be found on the Archway Trivium West website. Once on our school website go to:
Academics Curriculum Phonograms From there you are able to click on each individual phonogram to hear correct pronunciation and to see our method of teaching phonograms. If you ever have a question, concern, or need clarity on phonograms, or homework in general, please don't hesitate to ask I would be more than happy to assist. I have been exceptionally proud of the growth and improvement each of our Kindergarten scholars are making on saying and writing our phonograms. I truly believe a proper pencil grip makes all the difference in correct letter formation and ease of writing. Please encourage this grip while your child is writing whether it be phonograms, math, or history. This week we were able to begin embedding history into our weekly schedule. We learned about North America and three things that can be found in North America including buffalo, corn, and the Statue of Liberty. We did not go into as much depth as I would have liked but we were able to identify on day 2 of our lesson that United States is a country in North America. Also, with some prompting we identified Canada and Mexico too. I will be embedding Science into next week's lessons. My goal is to embed at least 2 days per week alternating weeks between History and Science. Wish List:
Our Specials Schedule: Monday: Music Tuesday: PE Wednesday: Art Thursday: Art Friday: Music
